The Lamp Post Project & the Girl Behind It
Hello chums! I thought I would take advantage of this blank page to introduce myself as the single soul behind this rather amateur book blog. When thinking about the best way to give you a glimpse as to who I am I thought of nothing better than to create a list (a personal favourite pastime of mine...is that just me?).
• 23 yr old primary school teacher
• Book lover and tea drinker
• Loves pastels, polka dots and florals
• Sucker for a good show tune and every Disney movie ever made
• Vintage enthusiast and optimist
• Dachshund lover
The Project
When I was a child my father would read fairytales every night to me before I went to bed. As I got slightly older, we would expand our literary adventures and explore Narnia with the Pevensy children or Oz with Dorothy. It was our little tradition. I believe that it was this time in my life that my passion for children's literature began and grew with every new story I encountered.
The Lamp Post Project was an idea I conceived a few years ago, however, in a very different form. As a teenager my desire to work within the world of children's literature embedded itself in the idea of creating an independent children's book shop where "up and coming" authors and illustrators would come and share their work, children could explore a world of stories and parents could simply enjoy a good cup of coffee . I would have called this place 'The Lamp Post' (well done those who got the Narnia reference).
Although still a dream of mine, I developed this blog which would allow me to share the stories I adore, the authors who inspire me and the characters who I have come to love in my ever-growing collection of children's literature.
